Tourniquet

Tourniquet was an internationally renowned metal band that formed in LA in 1990. They had been my favorite band since junior high, and in the early 2000s I began an ongoing working relationship with them as one of their go-to artists (for websites, CD/DVD covers, apparel, etc.). My meticulous vector reconstruction of their classic logo (pictured above in one of my more polished versions) has been used in one form or another in almost everything they've released since.

Final Package Design
Final package design. The cover features a full-color photo of Kirkpatrick sitting at his drums and looking toward the camera, with smaller blue-tinted images of the featured composers lining the top. A view of the open insert displays liner notes and credits over a red-tinted background photo of drumsticks against a hazy background. The back panel of the insert features another photo of Kirkpatrick. Behind the transparent tray, a closeup photo of a cymbal reflects vibrant multicolored lights. Finally, the CD face features an action shot of Kirkpatrick playing drums.

Website Design and Development

These older examples are dated by today's standards, but at the time they provided a fun challenge of immersing myself in the graphics-heavy Tourniquet aesthetic across a number of different versions of the site during my tenure, all of which were powered by a custom-built PHP/MySQL CMS that allowed the band to add/update almost all of the site's content without knowing any code.

Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance (Vinyl Re-Release Design)

In 2015, I had the privilege of designing the vinyl re-release of their 1992 masterpiece, "Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance" (pictured below), which not only features my favorite album cover of all time (designed by Joe Potter), but was also one of the inspirations that steered me toward graphic design in my youth. My approach in designing the gatefold was to try to recapture that era and create something that would feel of a piece with the original art.
